Nicely composed, I like how the hoof is almost touching the tip of the Capitol building.

Behind The Lens

Location

It was at Washington D.C, where I took this photo. December 2013.

Time

I wanted to capture my last shot from the Capitol in the evening, though I did not have my other professional camera with me. I was walking back and forward to have the best frame of the Capitol. suddenly I realized the hoof of the horse is touching the tip of the capitol. I did not hesitate to capture this angle.

Lighting

I used the natural light. There was a shallow light coming from the front and thanks to the night lighting around the place, I could make it by f/3.5, ISO: 400, Exposure: 1/40 - Camera: Canon PowerShot SX160 IS

Equipment

I did not use any equipment. I think the best was walking around to create the best position, which surprisingly led me to a very unique image.

Inspiration

I was very much inspired by the horses who seemed to be ruling over the Capitol. The capitol, itself is a great architectural work, but from this angle, it seems less prominent and more dominated, but still it has its greatness.

Editing

I just increased the contrast a little to make the shadows more visible and give a more black tone to the image.

In my camera bag

I always have my Filters ( ND, Polarizer), my tripod with me and a wide Lens, but I strongly believe that great captures could be taken without using any extra equipment. I always focus more on the shooting angle, framing and the natural light.

Feedback

Always try to search more, and think more when capturing a scene. It is always worth trying to come forward, go backward or change your level of shooting. Who knows, maybe a new surprising capture is waiting for you there! It is the art to make something extraordinary from a possible ordinary object or scene.
