Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a training burn for the Glenmont Fire Department, located in Glenmont Ohio. Every year they burn off state protected grasslands to encourage new growth and to help prevent future fires.

Time

This was taken right after dusk.

Lighting

I couldn't have asked for better lighting! The fire behind him did the work for me!

Equipment

I used my Canon T3i, no tripod or flash and no fancy lenses.

Inspiration

I used to tag along with this fire department on all of their training sessions. This was just one of about 400 that was shot that particular evening. I had no idea how well it turned out till I got home! I was shocked!

Editing

No editing...as shot!

In my camera bag

I shoot with my Canon Rebel t3i. I keep 4 lenses with me at all times: macro, wide angle, 35mm, 150mm

Feedback

I have learned that when shooting in low light a tripod is a must. But for this particular image, the fire was so bright around him, none was needed. Watch where you put the focus, mine was on him. A steady hand always help!
