Looking at the wonderful blue and gold within St. Chapelle is breathtaking.
The contrast of the blue of the stained glass with the gold accents and lights really captured my attention. I love using my wide angle lens to capture as much of a scene as possible to help give a sense of these beautiful places.
This image is one of my favorites of my St. Chapelle series.
This photo was taken within the chapel of St. Chapelle in Paris France. Since tripods are not allowed in this space, I took this photo handheld at a shutter speed of 1-20, f2.8, and 1600ISO with my D7000 and Tokina 11-16mm lens.
This is a single shot which has been minimally processed in Lightroom 3, except for some clarity!
If you are ever in Paris France, I hope you will seek out this little chapel which is not far from Notre Dame. It is quite stunning to see, and such a surprise when you go inside. The outside is quite dull, and then you see this!

Congrats on being featured! You've captured the color and feeling of a great place. So many folks visiting Paris head to Notre Dame and fail to stop at this gem. What you have captured here is the very reason for seeing this incredible place in person.

Yes, I agree. It was such a surprise when we went inside. It is such a contrast to the outside.

Beautiful shot. I can't believe you got this kind of clarity with a hand-held shot. Were you resting the camera on the pew or something? Very well done.

Thank you.
As far as handheld: I just planted my feet a bit wide, used a sturdy 2 handed grip, and held my breath while taking the shot. With my wide angle lens, I can handhold down to ~1/15 sec and get reasonable results. I captured a couple of images in the catacombs too.

Fantastic. Never got to see this when I was in Paris. Did you visit Mont Martre?

Thank you. No I never made to Mont Martre. I was staying in the Latin Quarter, so this church was close by.

just amazing clarity especially for a hand held shot - so great - I love the glow of the chandeliers - it makes it look like a longer exposure to me than it really was
