Behind The Lens

Location

Warbirds Over Wanaka

Time

Warbirds over Wanaka has 1000's of opportunities to capture some really cool photos of Aircraft - I waited until later in the day to get this shot I had planed when the sun was lower creating some atmosphere in the background and fortunately the weather played ball with a few stormy clouds thrown in too!

Lighting

I was pleased the weather was stormy in the background as I wanted a moody shot to hopefully create a more real looking scene other than a standard 'airshow' shot

Equipment

Canon 7D 24 105mm USM L series lens

Inspiration

I love photography and planes....

Editing

This was a bracketed shot 2 stops either side of 0 and then processed in Photomatix PRO and Lightroom

In my camera bag

7d mk1, 7d mk2, Samyang 14mm f2.8, Canon 60mm macro, Canon 24-105mm, Tamron 150-600, Speedlight 580 flash various filters and cables releases 2 tripods

Feedback

Air shows are hard to get cool shots as there are thousands of other people.... pick a spot you like and can see a shot and wait... or also zoom in on stuff to remove the distracting people around
