Behind The Lens

Location

My husband and I took a trip to Niagara Fals. This was our first time there. We stayed overnight on the Canada side. The next day we came back over to the US side and this was part of our walk along the falls. I fell in love with the beauty and

Time

We walked the paths along Niagara Falls taking in the beauty of it. It is amazing to watch that much water continue to plummet 188 feet, never slowing down. It was 11:00 am.

Lighting

The water creates a lot of reflection.

Equipment

This image was taken with a Nikon D200, the lens Nikkor 18-135mm f3.5-5.6. I did not use a tripod, because we were walking for a while. It was shot at 400iso.

Inspiration

I was inspired the moment I saw Niagara Falls. I took a lot of photos, but this is one of my favorites from that shoot. It portrays the magnitude of the falls and it feels like you are right on the edge.

Editing

I only did a slight adjustment to contrast and vibrance in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I travel with my Nikon D600 and Nikon D700. I use a short lens on one and a long lens on the other. I have my AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR, and AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. I usually have UV filters, back up batteries, gloves etc.

Feedback

Walk around your subject and look at it from different angles. I try to stay away from all the other people with cameras. I like to get a unique shot.
