Wow, great results with an iPhone! Very serious look on this dog, but I'm sure he was having a great time with the snow. Congratulations!

Thank you MaryAnne! He does love his runs, and I never neglect to pay him for his modeling services with a cookie or two.

Location
This photo was taken on my daily run with my dog Niko. He is my favorite photography subject. I run with my iPhone, and I am constantly looking for appealing backgrounds that flatter his coloring. When I find a good spot, I bring out the treats and snap a few shots.Time
I'm not positive on when this was taken, we were out running and we vary the distance. It was some time between 8 and 9 am.Lighting
We run early in the day, usually leaving the house by 7 am. The lighting is always changing subtly as the seasons change. This image was captured near the end of our run, and since it was overcast and snowing, I had to depend on the brightness of the snow to help my phone have enough light for a clear image.Equipment
This image was taken with the iPhone 4s. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
When I run, I am usually flushed with endorphins and I think that contributes to my feeling that everything is beautiful. I happened to look down at my dog and I saw he had some snow building up on his head. I thought it looked cute, so we stopped for a photo. That's when I noticed our trail of footprints in the fresh snow behind us, so I made sure they were in the frame.Editing
I transferred the image to my iPad and used the HD filter in Snapseed. In my camera bag
I am solely a mobile photographer, and the only camera I own is my iPhone. I currently use the iPhone 5s, and do my editing on the iPad Air 3.Feedback
I still consider myself a beginner, and not as much skilled as lucky. When it comes to photographing my dogs, I start by always keeping an eye out for an attractive background or unusual natural lighting. I shoot low, and try to keep in mind the rule of thirds, and set the focus on the eyes. Or, if I think the image needs my dogs to look in a certain direction, I have a couple cue words to make them look up or to the side. And treats! You have to pay your models. Beyond that, I just take lots and lots of photos. Usually only one in 25 are usable. And I try to have fun. When it stops being fun, I put my phone away and start running again.
