Thanks...it is a Nik filter called Tonal Contrast on the horse...then replaced the ugly background with a firey sunrise image I took of clouds.

Location
This photo is a compilation of two images. The image of the horse was taken at an outing I went on with the Yavapai Digital Arts and Photo Club. We visited a local ranch and photographed the horses. The image of the fiery clouds was taken one morning on my way to work.Time
Again...two images...so the horse image was taken in the early afternoon, the clouds image was taken very early in the morning on my drive to work.Lighting
Be sure the sun is in the right place before you shoot!Equipment
Both images were taken with my Canon Rebel XTi that I had at the time. The lens used for the horse image was a 70-300 f-4 zoom. The same camera was used for the cloud image but the kit lens was on the camera...I think it is a 18-55 maybe. I have since upgraded my equipment and shoot with two Canon 7D bodies. One with a 28-135 and the other with a 70-200 f-2.8.Inspiration
I love a beautiful galloping horse and I love a good sunrise!Editing
I used Photoshop...don't remember which version I had at the time. Enhanced the horse using Nik Filters detail extractor...then combined the two images, masking the clouds off the horse. In my camera bag
Now I carry two Canon 7D bodies, one 28-135 lens and one 70-200 f-2.8 zoom lens. I also carry extra CF cards and batteries...always...PLUS always carry business cards!Feedback
Make sure on the horse image that you use a high enough shutter speed to stop the action if that is what you are trying to do...I sometimes use slow shutter speeds on purpose to have a motion blur effect. Make sure you always have a camera handy for nature's wonders you can't predict...like a glorious sunrise!! If in doubt...take more shots...take lots and lots of photos...you can always delete them later!
