Location
In our backyard at the bird feeder. The painted bunting is a ground nester and feeds in the early evening. This one had appeared several times in the past few days. They are difficult to find in a natural situation.Time

Lighting was the "golden hour" just before sunset. All the lighting is natural.Equipment

It was a opportunity that couldn't be missed. The painted bunting has such a vibrant coloring that changes throughout the year. The challenge is to find them at their peak.Editing
Very little post processing, Slight exposure/contrast corrections. Cropping. In my camera bag

Since these birds are skittish, a long lens is almost required. Also the Painted Bunting has a distinctive call and they will trade calls with other of their species. Listening for the call will lead you to the birds. As ground nesters, they usually are active in late evening.
