Location
This was taken in Morgan Utah.Time
This photograph was taken at midnight.Lighting
The subject is backlit by the headlights of a bmw.Equipment
I used a canon rebel xt, 55mm lens, a cowboy hat the shield the camera from the rain, and lots of dog treats.Inspiration
I've always wanted to shoot a subject backlit. This idea just came to me while standing before the cars headlights, and I knew my husky woud make the perfect subject. I couldn't have asked for better conditions. The rain that began to fall as I set up the shot added so much to the photograph.Editing
I slightly darkened the photo in lightroom to get a more dramatic sillouhette. In my camera bag
In my bag I normally carry a Canon 60D, 40mm lens, 45-105mm lens, 80-200mmlens, dog treats, and a monopod.Feedback
Backlighting can be tricky, especially with a dog in the rain. Don't give into your frustration and don't give up. First, focus on the light not the subject. Keep a low iso and faster shutter speed to avoid overexposure. Most of all, have fun with it and try new sources of light. You never know what you may create.
