Canon Eos 7D at the time it would have been my 18-55 kit lens or possibly my 15-85mm these days I would use my 24-70mm L lensInspiration
I am lucky enough to live very close to this railway and love to pop down when i get chance. IMHO best time of day to shoot at this railway is the 1st train up in the morning and to get a really special shot a cold clear winter morning.Editing
Yes and nothing too exciting 95% of my editing I do in Lightroom Classic and then take over to Photoshop to finish off. For this I have lifted the shadows and reduced highlights to get the detail back in the sky. With the experience from when this was taken to now these days I wouldnt push it as far as this one as its pretty much a HDR wgich tbh I am not a great fan of.In my camera bag
Wow hard question as it depends on what I am heading out to shoot. Bodies I have a canon 1Dx a Canon 7D and a Canon 60D. So normally it would be the 1Dx with the 7d as back up. Lens choice would depend on what I am shooting. For Sports I would have 70-200mm F2.8 on one body and 70-200mm F4 on other So if I have a problem mid shoot I just put 1 camera down pick up the other and keep shooting until I have a break so I can see what the problem is. Luckily its rare I need to pick up 2nd body and normally its just because lots of action going on and I have filled the cards so swap until I can swap cards :).Also for sports I would have my 400mm F4Do and the 24=70mm L If inside in an arena I would probably throw in my 135 F2l as wellFeedback
Lots of people come to steam galas to shoot steam engines so for me i would look for a different place to shoot from the crowd and also use a different choice of lens to most. Recce up the railway before you go and find where you can get close to trackside ot where you have an amazing andscape to show the train gliding through.
