Location
This lake scenery is part of the beautiful "Marriott's Village d'lle-de-France", a resort near Paris, France.Time
With a fresh coat of overnight snow, got up early before sunrise and walked around the property before anyone could trample the fresh snow. It is still snowing lightly causing the white hazy overcast. This scenery was about 45 minutes after sunrise on January 15, 2013.Lighting
The hazy overcast and the white snow created a perfect softbox lighting and to achieve a better depth of field used a higher ISO.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon 5DM3 and a EF24-105mm 4.0L lens set at 28mm. Mounted on a tripod, used a cable release to trigger camera.Inspiration
At the Golden hour, the sunrise and sunsets in the nature has always inspired me. With plenty of time while on vacation on this beautiful resort property, it gave me the opportunity. Wander around the many acres and absurd it's beauty and with camera on hand was able to capture those precious memories frozen in time.Editing
Low light and bright scenes usually fools the camera as well as the photographer. Had to do white balance as well as contrast and saturation corrections. In my camera bag
The Canon 5DM3 with the all purpose 24-105mm lens, 200mm 2.8, Macro lens or tubes with two extra sets of Canon batteries Also in the bag, 3 extra 16GB/32GB Memory modules along with a camera release cable. Cannot forget to mention the two Canon flashes with 3rd party remote triggers along with plenty of spare batteries and the portable flash diffuser just in case.Feedback
For a steady shot use a tripod or place camera on a fixed steady platform. Make sure to remove White Balance (WB) from Auto and set it on Cloudy. Use the builtin timer or use a cable release to trigger camera. Use lowest ISO as possible but with the smallest F-Stop possible to capture most of the scenery in focus.
