Location
This was taken from the soccer pitch at Moses Mahbida stadium in Durban South Africa. The Big Rush Big Swing has been officially named the world’s tallest (80 meters) swing by the Guinness Book of Records since 14 May 2011. Not your average swing, the aptly named Big Swing allows you to take the thrilling leap swinging out into a massive 220m arc where you soar into the centre of the stadium.Time
This was taken at around 3.30pm during summer (February).Lighting
No special lighting was used but the day was partly cloudy which provided nice soft lighting.Equipment
This was shot with a Panasonic DMC FZ28 - hand held. The sesttings were f8,1/640sec, iso 100,Pattern metering, focal length was 12 mm( 35mm equivalent 67mm), Auto white balance.Inspiration
As we were doing the stadium tour I was lucky enough to catch this person doing the Big Rush Swing jump and the massive stadium columns emphasise the smallness of the individual on the bungee cord.Editing
Post processing was done in Irfanview - Cropping, sharpening and conversion to monochrome. In my camera bag
My eqauipment consists of the Following: Panasonic DMC FZ28, Canon 550d,lenses: Canon 18-200, Canon 18-55, Sigma DG 70-300,Bower superwide 0.42x fisheye,Speedlight 270EX, polarising filters, close up filters.Feedback
Use the wide angle to include all the main features and crop to ensure correct composition such as rule of thirds. Shoot with bracketing to obtain multiple exposures to ensure correct exposure.Post processing can be used to emphasise the shadows or sky.
