Behind The Lens

Location

The shot was taken at the model's house. A I am a self taught and a pationate amateur photographer so I am taking advantage of every space I can use.

Time

The shot was taken at noon.

Lighting

The lighting was a softbox at 45 degrees from my model and 2.5 meters high.

Equipment

I used a mini flash 180W and a softbox 50x70cm. I shot this using a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 24-120mm f/4. My exposure was at f/8, 1/125, ISO 200

Inspiration

I always admired the nude female body and the art it creates by itself. In my mind when composing this shot was the brutal transition of women around the world from childhood to adulthood

Editing

The post processing was kept to a minimal level. Converted the image to black and white to remove the human skin tone. I cropped it to create a square frame and added some clarity and contrast.

In my camera bag

In my bag I have today my new Nikon D610 and three lenses. Nikon 24-120mm f/4 Nikon 85mm G f/1.8 Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 OS HSM I have also an expodisc for white balance calibration, an ND8 filter, a polarizer filter and my lightmeter.

Feedback

The advice I would give is to keep it simple and try to capture the tention on the hands and body. I used all the tention I could get out of my model to convey to the viewer the feeling and the intensity of the moment.
