Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a dam located where I live in Helena, Al. It is just one of the beautiful places I love to photograph.

Time

This was shot shortly after sunset.

Lighting

I wanted the flow of the water to be reflected by the blue lamps that light up the falls at night. With it being dusk the combination of the lamps gave me exactly what I wanted.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D7000, Nikkor 50mm f1.4 and a tripod. Nature provided the rest.

Inspiration

Before taking up photography I enjoyed the movement of water, how it flows without effort. The long exposure of water whether it be a stream or falls just calls out peace to me.

Editing

Just a little in Adobe Lightroom. Brought up the light and saturation slightly.

In my camera bag

I am that guy who always has his bag close by whether I am at the office or just on a day trip. I don't want to every say "I wish that I had my camera". In the bag I carry my Nikon D7000, Tameron 18-200, Nikon 70-300, Nikon 50mm and Nikon 150mm. I also have flashlights, a cable release, battery charger and extra SD cards.

Feedback

Have patience and keep trying. Don't forget the try different settings or lenses. You are the creator of your work. You know in your minds eye what you want the finished photo the look like. Don't ever give up until you have the desired shot.
