Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the mountains near our home in Jaffray B.C. We live close to the mountains and spent a lot of time there , fishing, , hiking and camping. There is nothing better than feeling the mountain air , it makes you feel alive. This is somewhere I would always carry my camera.

Time

This would of been in the mid to late afternoon which is a great time for good lighting in the mountains. If you wait to long you lose the light fast and the air changes to cool very fast, so you have to be ready at any time to get a great shot.

Lighting

This is just one of those quick shots that will last in memory forever. I spend a lot of time watching my kids and what is going on and always aware of the lighting. Sometimes it is just luck and nature working with you. This is the best feeling when you are in nature and the lighting is working for you. So many times it does not go this way.

Equipment

The equipment used was a Pentax K10 and a 70-200 zoom lens nothing else used.

Inspiration

As I said before we are very outdoors people and spend so much time outside. Kids and animals are always around me and watching all that goes on between them is just so fun! I was watching my daughter walking across this bridge talking away to our dog Misty. This was just way to cute to pass up. These two are great friends as you can tell by the photo. I hope that this shot gives off that feeling of bonding.

Editing

I touched the colors up a little and maybe a slight crop.

In my camera bag

I normally have in my bag of coarse my Pentax K10 digital camera and a 28-80 MM wide angel lens and a 70-210 MM zoom lens this is the lens I use the most. I also have a flash ready to use if needed.

Feedback

The advice I have for anyone is to spend time outside and take notes on what time the lighting is the best. Spend time looking all around you to make sure you don't miss anything. Try different angels and zoom in close. Watch your horizon lines and bright sunlight. Make sure that your back ground is not distracting as well. One last thing is always be ready for any thing to happen you may even have a deer or something crazy happen and then you are ready for that next great shot!!
