A very candid session with these two very adorable golden retriever sisters. They knew how to strike a pose.

Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken outdoors in the morning between 9am - 10am

Time

Since this was during the morning the light was lower in the sky. I had a fast shutter speed which comes in handy when photographing puppies on the move

Lighting

There was no harsh lighting or shadows. This was a great time to take photos of fast moving puppies because it allowed for a fast shutter speed with nice light.

Equipment

At this time I had my first DSLR camera - my Canon rebel xti - which proves it's not just the camera that takes good pictures but the photographer who manipulates the camera. I used a 50mm f1.8 lens.

Inspiration

Puppies!!! Who wouldn't want to photograph cute, adorable pups? I basically followed them around and took candid moments of their interactions.

Editing

I saturated the photo a bit more with colour and brightened it a bit. I also cropped the photo in a bit tighter

In my camera bag

Currently I have my Canon EOS 6D, 50mm F1.4, 24 - 105mm lens, dog treats, squeak toy and poop bags. The things you need as a Pet Photographer.

Feedback

Time of day is key - either in the morning or later in the afternoon when the sun is lower in the sky. If you don't have a reflector then have the animals face the sun puts that life in their eyes. Always have your camera turned on and finger on the shutter button to capture those unique animal moments I have learned a lot since I started photographing animals and continue to enjoy my journey.
