Behind The Lens
Location
It was taken on a regular walking route in my hometown in New Hampshire. The farm along the route has stone walls between the road and the fields; the horses can come up alongside the fence/wall and usually do.Time
I believe it was mid-morning, slightly overcast. On a particularly warm November/December day.Lighting
Nothing more than natural light.Equipment
No special equipment was used. My camera is a Fujiflim finepix S2700, it's essentially a point and shoot with more control. It was a Christmas gift from my parents a few years ago. It was a huge step up from the camera I had before it, which was a one megapixel camcorder that also took photos.Inspiration
Going for walks regularly, I'd always see this horse out in the field. It's huge, with legs like pillars and is stunning and intimidating to see up close even with a stone wall and fence between us. I really don't remember if I took my camera with me to get pictures of the horse specifically, or if I just took it with me in the hopes of capturing something interesting. Either way it worked out.Editing
It has a sepia filter from a photo editor program I use to have. I really liked the sort of timeless look it gave the photo. In my camera bag
Nothing more than another SD card. As I said it's essentially a point and shoot, so I don't have interchangeable lenses. My hope is that at some point I'll be able to get a DSLR camera with a macro lens, since one of my favorite types of photos are macros.Feedback
Find a place that has animals (whatever type of your trying to shoot) and just go for it. Work with whatever angle the animal is giving you and be patient, animals rarely let you get the photo you want on first shot.
