Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside the Art Gallery in Quebec city, Canada.

Time

Mid morning, around 9am.

Lighting

It was a clear day and the sun was fairly strong already, to avoid harsh shadows I got down low and waited for one of the few clouds around to diffuse the sunlight.

Equipment

This shot was taken using a Nikon D300 with Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 lens.

Inspiration

I wanted to take a different perspective of quite a popular art piece, which is blurred in the background of this photo. I liked the idea of using a cup as a planter so I focussed my attention on that and framed the subject accordingly.

Editing

Just some minor contrast and levels control, and increased the saturation slightly.

In my camera bag

Nikon D300, Nikkor 24-70 f2.8, Nikkor 50mm f1.4, Nikkor 10.5mm Fisheye, Nikon SB600.

Feedback

Be spontaneous, look for something different with you shots. A unique perspective can make an everyday subject more eye-catching.
