This photo is captured along the shores of a naturally sunlit Portland Harbor, Maine. The lighthouse is the first one commissioned by the first President of the United States of America, George Washington. It sits with majesty and beauty above all lighting the path home and away for seamen of all centuries and nations. She lights the way 24-7, 365 days a year. The keepers house is used as a museum today, a duplex housing arrangement at the time. Millions of visitors come to see history in the lighthouse and if you have not seen her, she is well worth the view. Visit the Portland Headlight in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. You will never forget the image.

I have an affinity for lighthouses. This is one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. This is calendar material. Very well done. Great presentation and information!

Thank you for viewing one of my favorite places. I too love the lighthouses of America. They are known as America's castles since we have no kings and queens or official castlles as recognized in other lands. Again, thank you for dropping by my favorite lighthouse
