Location
This photo was taken on garden of our apartment building.Time
I took this photo at around 5:30 pm. It was Saturday and sunny day. with clear weather.Lighting
Only natural light was used. No flashes, no still lights and no collapsible reflectors.Equipment
I was using my Canon 550D (Rebel T2i) and Tamron 70-200mm (at 200mm) @ 1/100s with f3,5 (ISO 800). Camera was on tripod so I can focus correctly.Inspiration
It is my girlfriend's eyes on the photo and she wants me to take closeup of her eyes. We also had this carnival mask at home and never used it before for photo... But actually, we were going to shoot a cinemagraph (https://flixel.com/cinemagraph/ijxdlffrfrbwhoa2yb1l/) and while shooting the video for it, we also take this one shot.Editing
There is only little post-production, like white balance, contrast and clarity, sharpening and small retouching of front eye (whites, iris contour). In my camera bag
My Camera - Canon 550D, and all our lenses (my girlfriend is also photographer) - Sigma 10-20mm, Canon 35mm, Canon 50mm, Tamron 90mm macro and Tamron 70-200mm. We also have a Canon 5D mark III - my girlfriend camera, that she won here on Viewbug 2 years ago (thank you for this). Most of the times, we also take our tripod or monopod. And when we are going to shoot people, we took our set of collapsible reflectors with us... sometimes also external flash and remote trigger. I never go out without my iPhone... and OlloClip and small gorillapod :) Most of the times with DSLR, we are using 10-20mm, 35mm and 70-200mm as our basic lenses.Feedback
Just go out and shoot. Don't worry about technial quaity, high ISO or low megapixels on your older / lower level camera! My girlfriend won her Canon 5D Mark III with photo taken on Canon 350D (Rebel XT)! Your camera is great tool, but your creativity is much more important than the tech you have.
