Location
This was taken at Carmel Market in Jaffa, Israel. It is a giant food market where people come every day to get their fresh vegetables and other foodstuffs. Each stall specializes in one type of food, this one, as you can see was candy only.Time
As I remember, this was in the morning, around ten AM.Lighting
Available light. I could have used a fill-in flash for the bottom row, but then everything else would have been overexposed.Equipment
Hand held Cannon G5 or G11. I travel very light with little or no extra equipment except batteries and SD cards. Got tired lugging the large cameras and lenses around. I find the G5 and now my G 12 set on manual have enough settings and controls that I can handle most situations I run into.Inspiration
The colors, various shapes and arrangement of the candies interested me.Editing
No, I try to get the framing, perspective I want and the exposure in the original shot. I may have intensified the color a little in this shot, but cannot remember for sure.In my camera bag
Batteries, batteries, batteries. SDHC cards, cable control, lens cleaner and cloths, Bulb to blow dust off the lens. Also a battery charger for the country I am in.Feedback
Frame your shot the way you want it in the camera. Watch your exposure and take 2 to 3 shots if you are not sure it is right. Imagine there is no way to correct mistakes after the picture is taken and you will take a better picture. You can get amazing images in your backyard if you use your imagination. It is the picture and mostly the story, not the expensive camera that make a photograph
