Behind The Lens

Location

In the mountains of Colombia I stopped at a farm and found this little green parrot in a tree. His name is Roberto and he is semi wild. He is free to fly away but always comes back to the same tree where he receives food from the owner of the farm.

Time

Around 2:00 p.m.

Lighting

Natural daylight

Equipment

I used a Pentax k-7 and a 55-300m DAL Pentax lens. This is an extremely sharp lightweight lens although a little slow in focusing.

Inspiration

I like parrots and their comical screeching calls. This little parrot was in a natural surrounding so I felt I could take a reasonably good image of this little fellow.

Editing

Very little post-processing, just a little contrast control with Pentax k-7 digital filter.

In my camera bag

2 Pentax k-5iis, a 16-45mm and a DAL 55-300mm digital lens.

Feedback

For photographing birds you need a long lens and lots of patience.
