There is a story behind this photo: my husband and I where at the Wildlife Refuge and found these two Raccoons trapped in the garbage dumpster. the one in the front was trying his hardest to get out, he kept jumping on the sides but they were slippery and he kept sliding back down. The one in back was terrified and did not move. My heart sank, and I could not just leave them there. I lowered my cooler which had a strap into the dumpster, the bigger one jumped on and I pulled him up, he clung to my arm ( had on long sleeved sweatshirt) I guess afraid i was not going to get him out. He seemed grateful, the other one would not move. you could tell he wanted to but was too afraid. my husband got a log off the beach and wedged it into the corners of the dumpster. We backed off. he eventually climbed up the log and jumped out. and that is my story of the rescued Raccoon!! :)

They are adorable little critters, but can be quite destructive left to their own devices. The images I posted of the little rac in my yard was a pregger female. She would come in the yard daily to see what might be laid out to eat (we eventually put dog food out for her, and some fresh water). After awhile, we didn't see her anymore and wondered if she had been hit by a car, or just moved on. Then one day, about 4 months later, here she came with 3 juveniles, looking for food at her old haunt. She was sweet, but we never dared to get too close to her. Eventually, she and the young ones quit coming around.
Thanks so much for helping these 2 sweet creatures. xx

Nice of you to give them food. I wonder sometimes if they don't think the same thing about humans "destructive creatures aren't they" These two did not seem aggressive, they just wanted out of that dumpster. couldn't help feel bad for them. You are very welcome. I would do it again. Thank you so much for the comment
