On May 25, 2009, a leaking gas bottle in a caravan caused a major fire at the Türlersee campsite in the canton of Zurich (Switzerland). According to reports, the incident occurred when the leaking gas ignited on the refrigerator, which was also powered by gas. The gas bottles exploded and the fire quickly spread to other caravans and gas cylinders, causing them also to explode.
As a result, 16 people were injured, one of them seriously. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
