Every minute, thousands of tonnes of plastic are dumped into the oceans.
We have all seen the shocking images of animals suffocated to death by a plastic bag.
But this pollution is much more insidious, because in reality it's millions of microparticles resulting from the disintegration of polymer chains that end up in the oceans around us and are ingested by animals as well as humans.
