Nice image, was this captured in the winter? I have a similar image taken in the fall with less snow on the mountains.

Thanks!! This was captured at the end of September 2023. Funny thing... later this night it snowed and the next morning this whole place was a complete winter wonderland!

Location
This photo was taken at Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta.Time
Sunrise. What's interesting is visitors cannot drive their own vehicles to Moraine Lake anymore. Luckily, there are a few private companies that run shuttle busses up to the lake that get you there in time to see the sun rise. It's a short walk up a 'rock pile' to the viewing areas overlooking the lake.Lighting
No special lighting, as the sun had barely come up shining on the peaks in the image.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5Ds-R with the 16-35mm f/4 lens on a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod with Really Right Stuff ball head.Inspiration
Inspiration?? Whew! It's only been at the top of my bucket list for almost twenty years!! I remember seeing photographs of this place and telling myself one day I'll make it there, even before I knew the name. And suddenly, a few years ago, the opportunity had come. I had to wait for the perfect time and the ability to travel across the border to Canada, and everything came together in the Fall of 2023. A dream come true!!Editing
There was a little post-processing. Mainly bringing out the darker spots and lowering the brighter spots. A bit of saturation enhancement also.In my camera bag
Being mainly a landscape photographer, my best piece in my bag is my 16-35 f/4 L Canon wide angle lens. It's a nice and lightweight, sharp lens and pairs great with the huge sensor of my 5Ds-R. Next is my Canon 85mm f/1.2 L prime. I got it for the few portraits I may do from time to time, but I love taking it out for landscapes. It brings, and forces me to get, a different perspective and some places. And for the wide open spaces, especially in the West, the longer focal length is needed. I also have a Canon 6D and a 70-200 f/4L II. Oh, I can't forget the polarizer and graduated neutral density filters!Feedback
Best advice is to go and the ends of the day. Morning or afternoon. This specific location, Moraine Lake, is best in the morning because the sun rises and hits the mountain peaks across the lake first. Really amazing! It's hard to get a bad shot in such beautiful locations as this.
