Finally summer had arrived in Northern Ireland, the first week without continuous cloud and rain. I happened to be at Mum’s helping out while her knee was on the mend. This not so little dragon fly joined me in the garden for a few days, and like me took a moment in the humid flower garden to soak up some of the sun. Being still in nature has a way of rewarding us like that.

I should say I do not currently own a macro of telephoto lens. This picture was taken using a manual vintage 28mm, so I was very lucky that this beautiful creature allowed me to get so incredibly close for this picture. A subsequent quality I really like about this picture is that the background is not entirely blurred out, giving a sense of the light and warmth on this particular day.
