Location
I took this photograph at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Cape Town.Time
I visited the garden after church one Sunday morning at around 11am.Lighting
It was almost midday and the light was already quite bright and not ideal for shooting. I was determined to get at least a shot of some sunbird or flower when I suddenly noticed this little unexpected creature amongst the aloe branches munching the aloe petals. What a surprise! I have never seen a mouse before eating petals!Equipment
It was a handheld shot and I used my canon 7d mkii and 100-400mm canon lens.Inspiration
I was looking for sunbirds to photograph when I spotted some movement amongst the petals of the aloe and noticed the little mouse.Editing
I did just very basic LR editing one my raw image. In my camera bag
I usually have my 7d mk ii and 5d mk iii in my bag with a 100-400mm lens and a wide angle lens 16-35mm.Feedback
When you go out into nature to photograph birds for example, be open to anything else that might appear unexpectedly.
