Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Frank Jackson state park, in Alabama. I’m a self taught photographer, so every picture is me trying something new!

Time

This is probably my favorite photo. It was around 6:30 pm in the middle of summer, we went on a camping trip. Me and Ruger (in photo) were walking around. I sat down to watch the sunset, and was taking pictures of it, when he walked in front of me and sat down. He was always so photogenic

Lighting

I’m self taught so every is still new for me, but I couldn’t get both the sunsets beautiful colors, and my subject. So I went when a silhouette style and focused more on the sunset colors.

Equipment

I took this with my I phone which at the time I do believe was and I phone XS. No flash but I made the phone use a slower shutter speed to catch all the colors.

Inspiration

Ruger my subject was my childhood dog, and my best friend we did everything together. We would go on trips all the time just to take pictures, and he would always pose without fuss. So I got to capture two things I love sunsets, and my best friend. Couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Editing

I brought the brightness down in the picture to help draw your attention to the middle of the picture to see all the colors of the sunset.

In my camera bag

Just carry around my phone

Feedback

Just keep playing around with your settings, I’ve learned when it’s lower lighting slower shutter speeds help greatly to capture your photo.
