Location
I took the Photo in the city center of Hamburg, Germany.Time
The photo was taken just before 12:00 noon.Lighting
The light was available light. There were no heavy shadows because the photo was taken in a narrow street that was protected from direct light.Equipment
I shot this with a Canon 5D-ll I was using a Canon ef 24-70 lens.Inspiration
The model is a professional dancer, we collaborated on the shoot together brain-storming the idea of a lighter than air existence.Editing
I did post process in Photoshop, but not to manipulate the image in any way. Only to make tonal adjustments. In my camera bag
Well I have recently done a full equipment upgrade. My Bag is now packed a Canon-R5 with an RF 24-70mm lens and an Rf 100-300mm lens. I also have a Hasselblad X1D-ll with a 45mm prime lens. My flash set up are, 2 Profoto A10 on camera flash units. My camera strap is a Sun-Snipper harness. My tripod is by Manfrotto.Feedback
I always try to prioritize a 100 ISO and then work my other settings around that priority. In the case of stopping action the shutter speed takes the second priority slot. I usually want to be shooting at 250th of a second or faster to stop the action and eliminate any camera shake. The shoot was all done hand held. It is important to have good light so that it makes it possible to keep the ISO and shutter speed priorities. The next thing would be to source a talented dancer or gymnast. Choose a location that is not too crowded or noisy because you are going to have to be doing quite a bit of communication. We did a lot of 1,2,3 go! I do recommend this kind of shoot it is fun and it will help to build your skill level. Remember when shooting hand held not to hold your breath when shooting. Holding your breath adds tension to your body thus adding shake. It is better to breath steady and at the bottom of the exhale, without holding the breath, just before the inhale, take the shot.
