It was really cloudy and overcast and you could see rain off in the distance down the beachEquipment
Canon 50D converted to shoot Infrared with a 18-55 EF lensInspiration
The beautiful green leaves of the sea grape and the trees and bushes along the beach I knew would give me a very interesting look in IR.Editing
I imported the raw image into Lightroom and applied a profile that I made in order to get the right temperature (LR doesn't have a long enough spectrum to natively "see" the IR image) then after some adjustments in the develop module I finished work up in Photoshop by flipping the color channels and then selectively colored the leaves, sky and water. In my camera bag
I have since replaced the 50D with a converted 7D along with a "normal" 5DM3 and IDMIV, 16-35mm, 18-55 was replaced by a 10-18EFS, 24-105, 100mm macro, a 70-200 and 500mm lens. I use a Feisol Tripod with a BH55 ball head.Feedback
When you start shooting infrared the best thing is to find some really green leaves against a blue sky that will give you your most striking results, people are also fun to take pictures of in IR because it gives you really white smooth skin.
