Behind The Lens

Location

During a hike in the freezing cold at The Rockies in Denver Colorado

Time

Late afternoon, not much time to stop and take photos otherwise it'll get dark and we'd lose our way.

Lighting

The late afternoon sun was just about to descend behind the snow-capped rocky mountains, The high winds blew the icy clouds quickly across the blue sky, I quickly setup the camera settings, got the first photo, put the lens in manual focus and snipped a few more pics to creat this pano.

Equipment

I went the Canon R5 and Canon EF 24-70 f/4 IS USM Macro that was mated on with a Benro EF-RF lens adaptor. This was a compact and light weight kit that would have 80% of my photo and videos covered. The Benro adaptor had a drop-in CPL filter to saturate the scene and cut with the glare. I was testing a pro-mist filter at the time. But this scene didn't have the right elements and lighting to show any effects.

Inspiration

Whilst on our return to the car from the arduous hike in extreme conditions, I could enjoy this scenic view to my right side, I stopped in a position between 2 trees to frame the subject of the shot.

Editing

As this scene was a multiple shot Pano, I had to colour correct and add lens correction to each image then have the software stitch it all together.

In my camera bag

On this hike, I had my camera kit mentioned above, lightweight Manfrotto tripod and a DJI mini pro 3.

Feedback

If you see the vision in your head, don't ignore it, capture that scene without hesitation using all the skills you have available to make that vision become a work of art.
