Location
This photo was taken near Chilsworthy in Cornwall. Colloquially known as Red Sands, this is one of Arnie’s favourite places to explore as it’s surrounded by woodland, old mining buildings, and some fantastic view points.Time
Typically I’m quite a slow person when it comes to mornings, so tend to take the two boys out mid-afternoon. This benefits me greatly as I the lighting is perfect for taking the camera out too around this time.Lighting
At this point, we were walking through the dense woodland, but came across an opening where the light bought out the warm ones on the ground below, complimented by Arnie’s chocolate coat.Equipment
This was surprisingly show on my iPhone XS Max, hence the ‘less-than-normal’ quality of the image.Inspiration
Out of my two boys, Arnie (as seen in photo) is a lot more photogenic than Teddy. His goofy little smile makes for a smile-worthy photo in any given moment.Editing
I used Lightroom to bring out the warmer tones, and to help Arnie stand out from the background. His gorgeous eyes were also brightened and masked off to highlight his adorable assets.In my camera bag
In my bag, you’ll typically find my Canon EOS 450D with a 17-85mm lens, and a 18-55mm lens, with a few filters, a tripod, and my trusty lens hood. I also carry a small silk bag with 3 different mobile phone camera lenses!Feedback
Don’t try and make chalk from cheese! Highlight your pets characteristics and traits in the photo, and have fun with them. Bright lights also help to bring out the adorable puppy eyes we seek in pet shots, so have some fun with the lighting too.
