Bighorn sheep are one of the more interesting
creatures we have in the Greater Yellowstone
Ecosystem. The males, aka "rams", can have horns
weighing up to 30 pounds, which symbolize rank
among the other males. Males with the largest horns
typically win battles against other males, allowing them
access to the desired female(s). Female bighorns are
referred to as "ewes" and herd together to raise their
young, which are referred to as "lambs". Female lambs
will stay with their mother's herd, while male lambs will
leave after a year or two to join separate bachelor
herds.

I watched this smaller herd for about 30 minutes. It was
a fun time just watching these guys track through the
snow to munch on any vegetation they could find.
Before they all crossed the road in front of me, they
stopped at the top of the hill for a "family" portrait.
