This photo of a sanderling perched on a rock at low-tide was one of the first photos I took at the start of 2023. It had been walking around the rock, searching for small bait fish in the water around it to eat. I sat on the beach just watching and snapping a few photos here and there, but when it jumped onto that upper mound of the rock, it was the ideal moment and framing to snap a photo.
