Unknown ground-feeding birds, possibly juncos and-or some type of sparrow, were hopping around these burdock seed heads poking through the snow. I assume they were looking for food. Burdock was the inspiration for Velcro. The seedheads are covered with small hooks that latch onto any passing animal or your pants cuffs.
