Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home when my 86 year old grandmother was staring the empty land and the vast sky through the balcony window.

Time

It was a mild sunny afternoon around 2 pm during the month of February this year.

Lighting

The mild afternoon sunlight was perfect to naturally showcase all the agony on my grandma's face(which she normally hides in the darkness).

Equipment

I used my Canon DSLR camera(18 - 55 mm) with a tripod.

Inspiration

My grandma shares her life experiences with me and whenever she thinks about her husband, who passed away twenty years back, her face gets filled with agony. Though the small tear droplet peeked out to sum up her pain, she tries to hide her emotions showing herself strong. Though her children and their families support her with love, the loss of her spouse is irreplaceable and has left her with the feeling of loneliness. I always feel that all the wrinkles on her face reflect all the experiences and the struggles she has gone through in her life in raising up her six children and that too with a low income. I see her as a strong lady who have learned to cope up with whatever life throws at her and is still standing as a strong inspiration and role model for me. I love my grandma so much and I wanted to take her picture and her emotions to treasure with me forever.

Editing

As I wanted to capture my grandmother's emotions in the natural bright light, I did not do much post processing other than slight touches here and there for the saturation effect.

In my camera bag

I have my Canon Rebel T7 DSLR with 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm Lenses along with a tripod. I longed for a DSLR for many years and finally ended up buying one and I love carrying it with me whenever I go for tours.

Feedback

True inner emotions doesn't show up always. But when they do, be ready geared up with your equipments to preserve the moment.
