Behind The Lens

Location

Bluff Falls was taken just outside a town named Cudgewa in north eastern Victoria

Time

This particular set of images was taken on the 22nd of September 2022 at around 10.45 - 11.00 am

Lighting

So being early spring here the lighting was varied because of overcast conditions and intermittently sunny periods. By memory it is HDR with 3 or 4 images together to give the end result.

Equipment

Shot an old Canon EOS450D with a 35-105mm ef lens set on my now well used Manfrotto 290 Dual tripod

Inspiration

I love nature so anything like this really gets me going, on top of that I generally like to use long exposures to get all the variations of color. Moving water turn into a constant creamy flow is fun. Also after a particularly wet winter this was waterfall I wanted to get to as it is one that is normally dry for the majority of the time. Having been there nearly 30 times over the last 5 years only to find it dry, it was really exciting to catch it flowing.

Editing

Yes, definitely with this one..... It is a series of 3 to 4 images on top of one another and then adjusting the highlights and shadows to suit. Once I got my desired finish I adjusted the vibrance and saturation a little to bring out the colors.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS450D, EF-S18-55 lens, EF 35-105 lens, Sigma 150-600 lens and a Manfrotto 290Dual tripod, Mecablitz flash and a Remote trigger. Nothing ever changes in what I carry with me.

Feedback

As I have stated before...... Try to find what your looking for in advance and go back to use any ever increasing skills you may learn along the way. Use the same spot same image over and over at different times under different lighting conditions and don't be afraid of making errors, that is one of the many ways of learning.
