Behind The Lens

Location

New Westminster, BC. My (south facing) kitchen counter/sink of my apartment.

Time

I was fortunate to have mid-morning light coming in through the kitchen window.

Lighting

I was lucky to have natural back lighting the photo. And a fluorescent light overhead that gave off enough to fill in the front of the shot, otherwise this might have been more of a silhouetted image than it is.

Equipment

This was a hand-held shot with a NIKON D60. Looking at photo details it was shot at an f/9 - ISO400. No flash.

Inspiration

I had just received a bouquet of condolences flowers and was putting the flowers in a vase when my curious ginger hopped up on the kitchen counter to check them out. The flowers fascinated him long enough for me to grab my camera and get a few shots of him and studying the flowers.

Editing

If any, there might have been some cropping.

In my camera bag

Back up battery at all times. Cleaning cloths. Second lens.

Feedback

Pay attention to composition. Experiment with exposure/shutter settings. Practice getting tack-sharp images.
