Location
I took this photo on one of our daily walks. It was a very calm and cool day, with the sun shining just right. My dog loves to explore and he decided to take a detour that day into our woods and reluctantly I followed, we came across this beautiful area with one large tree and a small stream of water flowing right in front. It looked like a secret garden and by the way my Rocky, the dog, navigated the area he already knew of this place. We sat down in a tent of branches, while he was relaxing I marveled at the place around us, until it was time to go. I stood up and looked around one last time while Rocky waited in front of me, I looked down at my sweet boy and he looked up at me, I knew I had to capture this moment, so I took a few photos and we went on our way to enjoy the rest of our walk.Time
It was around 12 in the afternoon when this photo was taken. The sun was high and the air was cool the perfect day for a walk and photos.Lighting
I always rely on natural lighting and it was definitely on my side that day.Equipment
I used my Nikon d3300 and 18-55mm lens to capture this photo.Inspiration
I took this photo in the moment like many of my other images. My dog showed me a place in our woods that I didn’t know existed and it was such a serene feeling I wanted to capture it.Editing
All I wanted to do was enhance the natural colors of the area we were in, and that’s what I did in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon d3300, 55-200mm and 18-55mm lens, along with my tripod.Feedback
I capture photos in the moment like this one, so always carry your camera. But, my advice if you wanted to recreate something similar is to place your pup right in front of you and have treats so they’ll look up at you, lift your camera up high to get your feet in frame. Go as high or low you want to get the desired photo. For lighting and perspective always try different angles and positions, I took a few extra of my dog laying down just to see what it might look like from that perspective and had my back to the sun.
