The photo was taken at sunset as I walked along the lake with my dogs. I was very new to photography and knew nothing about settings and very little about my camera but when I came around a bend and saw this I just started pointing and shooting. Was so excited when I saw how my pics came out. It helped to hook me on photography.Lighting
I was so stunned with this scene that I just started snapping and kept snapping until I realized I had to hike the trail back to camp in the dark. LOLEquipment
I have a Cannon EOS that was given to me with a wide angle and zoom lens. I was using the wide angle lens. It was a handheld as I had no tripod at that time. All my settings were on auto as I had no experience with using my settings at that time.Inspiration
I was out hiking with my dogs. I had the camera with me and was practicing taking pics - just learning how to use it. This sunset was so stunning that I just started snapping.Editing
I did very little post-processing as it was new to me. Now that I know more I have a version of this pic were I straighten my horizon which really bothers me when I look at it now.In my camera bag
I have very little equipment. I have a wide angle lens 18-55 and a a zoom lens 75-300 and a lens filter. I have added a tri-pod to the bag but other than that I just play with what I have.Feedback
Be willing to take a chance. Walk a trail in the dark to get a sunrise or sunset but be careful. This photo was pure luck for me but I have since learned how important it is to plan. Know sunrise and sunset times. Check out the area in daytime then go back in dusk/dawn for a chance at a special shot.
