Location
This photo was taken at a local nature trail along a river. There is an arch bridge above a dam where I got this shot!
Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon before sunset. The sky had a slight bit of blue mixed into the overcast clouds. The autumn colors seemed to pop!
Lighting
I wanted to make sure the shadows were bright enough to capture the different colors and depths of the autumn leaves but also enjoyed the contrast/moodiness of the photo.
Equipment
I shot this on a Canon 80D using a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. That is a great combo for getting crisp, colorful photos in nature!

Inspiration
I was inspired by the scenery around me! Fall is my favorite season and time of year. This spot is always beautiful but especially with the changing leaves. I also love a good reflection so I always look for cool perspectives when there is still water!
Editing
Yes I did! My editing style is true to life, crisp, and colorful. I do basic adjustments to improve the photo. The one special thing about this photo- it’s an HDR blend of 3 photos. This allows you to capture detail from both highlights and shadows when combining the 3+ photos in post. This definitely brought more life to the photo.
In my camera bag
Since taking this photo I have upgraded to the Canon R, so that’s always in my bag! As well as my 3 favorite lenses: Canon 85mm f/1.8, Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8, and Canon 70-200 f/4 L.
I also always have an ND1000 lens filter (perfect for long exposures), extra batteries, SD cards, and cleaning tools.
Feedback
Use nature to your advantage! Water can be a great addition to photos in many ways. Don’t forget the rule of 3rd’s and don’t be afraid to try many different angles compositions!
