This image was captured in my Ottawa (Canada) Studio. I was playing with movement and shutter speed. I wanted the portrait to be less static and more evocative.Time
I like to work mornings in my studio, my windows are facing west, and I like the softness of the morning light through that window.Lighting
Although this image was captured in my studio, I used natural light to lit it. Communicating the feeling I was going after was key to get the shot. Paid models usually have "their" look, and it is hard to break them from it.Equipment
I used a Fujifilm GFX 50r with a GF 63mm F2.8. I also used an Manfroto tripod. I only wanted a motion blur from the model, keep the eyes somewhat "focused"Inspiration
I am a big fan of MARK DE PAOLA (http://www.depaolapictures.com/). I wanted to create my own "emote" image. I was not sure how to make it mine and convey the feelings I wanted using blurs. Photographers are usually consumed by sharpness, as was I, so experimenting with this was highly rewarding and freeing.Editing
There is very little post-processing. I added grain and accentuated the vignetting. of course did a B&W conversion. In my camera bag
My go to camera in the Studio is GFX 50r + 63mm... This is what I am most comfortable with. Sometimes I will couple it with my 110mm F2. My favourite camera to use is my Hasselblad X1D with XCD 80mm 1.2. Great combo and great result out of the box.Feedback
Experiment a lot, study other photographers, find your own voice, experiment a lot.
