My family and I go on a yearly trip to the Kruger National Park in South Africa. There are a few spots you can climb out of your car and this one was beautiful as you can see the endless landscape in front of you, wondering what animals are sneaking around.Time
We were in the car for a while looking and searching to find the big five. When we got to this viewpoint, we had the perfect opportunity to stretch out our legs, except I took it a bit further and stretched out my legs to take this photo on the 2nd of July 2019, 12:36 (CAT)Lighting
It was midday, so I had a lot of sun to work with. I wanted to focus on the shoes and the adventure it brings. So I contrasted the olive green "vellies" with the contrasting light rock and the repetition of green in the landscape. Creating a sense of connection with the nature. I had to ensure my white balance is a bit tinted so that I get a warmer feel in the harsh sun.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Nikon D7200 body, handheld and my 50mm Nikon lens.Inspiration
I wanted to focus on the shoes as it was a recent gift and I love wearing them everywhere. The olive green shoes are called "vellies" and they were made to go on adventures. Going on this yearly trip is always an adventure with my family, especially when you are in a car for very long searching, waiting and looking for some animals to appear and show off their beauty. In the landscape all the green can be seen with all the animals going on their individual adventures. My shoes was the human equivalent; green and ready to take on anything.Editing
Only lighting correction using LightroomIn my camera bag
I always have my lovely Sigma 50mm on and ready to shoot. If that bad boy is not on it I use a classic kit Nikon 35mm. In my back pocket I wrap my Joby gorrilla-pod just for incase I need to wrap my camera around a tree or whatever I need to get a new angle.Feedback
Always be ready to seek out the special moments in life, those precious seconds in-between what we call life. These are the things that makes us happy, and helps us to create our own stories. Capturing stories is something I love doing and by being patient and allowing a brief moment to occur, taking it in and quickly hitting that shutter button.
