Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo just before sunset on Godrevy Beach in Cornwall. This was one of my first attempts at shooting the sunset.

Time

This photo was taken just before sunset, in the magical Golden Hour. As we pulled into the car park at Godrevy, the heavens opened, so I wasn't very hopeful of getting ANY photos. But the rain storm didn't last long and made for some dramatic skies and colours when we got down onto the beach.

Lighting

The setting sun through the storm clouds was just perfect, creating some beautiful reflections in the puddles by the rocks.

Equipment

This was taken on a FinePix HS30EXR Aperture: f/4.5 Exposure: 1/640 ISO: 100 No other equipment was used. It was a hand held shot, while crouching between puddles.

Inspiration

I love the beach, in any types of weather and at any time of day or night. I also love a good sunset, who doesn't? So I knew I wanted to combine the two. The beach is definitely my ultimate happy place.

Editing

This was a few years ago now, and if I remember correctly, the only post-processing I did was a bit of cropping and possibly a tweak of exposure. I tend not to do more than that with all of my photos.

In my camera bag

My camera, spare battery, spare sd card and a cleaning cloth are always in my bag. Sometimes I'll include my lensball and the little lenses for my phone, but that's all.

Feedback

Gosh, I'm very much an amateur so I'm not sure what advice I could give really. But all I'll say is, play around with different angles until you get THAT shot and enjoy it :)
