thx!it is a very interesting tree indeed, and a very old one as some of these trees are over 5000 years old!

Location
this photo was taken high up in the Eastern Sierra in the Bristlecone Pine Forest. The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is a protected area high in the White Mountains in Inyo County in eastern California. The Great Basin bristlecone pine trees grow between 9,800 and 11,000 feet above sea level, in xeric alpine conditions, protected within the Inyo National ForestTime
this shot was taken right after dawn, in there blue hours, as i was waiting for the Milky Way to riseLighting
just natural light in this shotEquipment
i shoot with Sony cameras, and this shot was taken with my main camera, the Sone a7rii,and the fantastic Zeiss Batis 25mm f2.0 i always use a sturdy tripod and ballhead, and for the past 12 years i've been using a 3 section carbon fiber tripod with the fantastic Really Right Stuff BH-30Inspiration
i actually went to the Bristlecone Pine Forest to shoot the trees at night with the rise of the milky Way as the Eastern Sierra provides some of the darkest sky in the West Coast, and probably the country.also the very high altitude can provide very clear conditions.i always wanted to see and shoot those trees, as they are the oldest in the world and this particular one is said to be over 5400 years old!i came early as i wanted to secure a spot with that tree and shot a few frames before the start of the night, and i actually liked that composition and the mood at that time of the evening.also the rising moon added to the scene.Editing
not much, just my usual workflow within Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop.contrast adjustment and sharpening, that is allIn my camera bag
my main camera,Sony a7rii,my back up camera, the original and still venerable Sony a7,always with me the Sony Zeiss 16-35 f4,the Zeiss Batis 18mm f2.8 when planning a night shoot, and more often these days my latest addition the Sony 24-105 f4,which is great and very sharp all around lens.i always have spare batteries and memory cards at all time, no matter what and where i shoot.finally for my kind of work a sturdy tripod and ball head are essential.i currently use a manfrotto carbon fiber tripod and a BH-30 Really Right stuff ball headFeedback
plan your trip in advance.check local weather and road closures if necessary.make sure you have appropriate gear and clothing when going to such places as high altitude means low temperatures at night.most importantly have fun shooting and exploring new places:)
