Location
At the Capitol Holiday Inn in Washington D.C. Memorial Day 2018Time
Late afternoon around dinner time. After a long day of walking around site seeingLighting
The lighting was simply from the incandescent lamps in the hotel room.Equipment
At the time my Nikon D-90's batteries where charging so all I had at my disposal was my Android work cell phone. A XT1710-02 @ an Aperture of f/1.7 and an ISO 640 AND Shutter speed of 1/15Inspiration
What inspired me to take this shot was simply the colors and textures of the dish. And also how the main course being the salmon was rectangle in shape along with the butcher block it sat upon and the shape of the dish being rectangle made it something that screamed to be photographed!Editing
Yes I used Photoshop CC 2017 to crop and give the image a little sharpness. Also darkened the outer edges to give it a more classic look and to enhance the image. In my camera bag
In my bag I carry my Nikon D-90 with a Nikkor 18-105 mm lens and a Nikon 7200 with a Nikkor 18-55 mm and a Nikkor 70-300 mm. Along with a Nikon SB-700 speedlightFeedback
I try to look for textures and colors and shapes that make the food stand out. As well as highlights of light glimmering off any objects of utensils or food. The placement of the dish and shadows and a point of view that accents the essence of the food to the eye that makes your eyes as well as your pallet want to dig in!
