That's Andrew, 49 years old, grown up and living in Bristol. Growing up in a broken home he early experienced abuse and violence. Having two alcoholics as parents he started to drink regularly at the age of 9. Not having any kind of degree he had difficulties finding a job and so he started doing tourist tours though Bristol. Through the early experience of sexual abuse he never was able to fully commit to a relationship as his trauma was haunting him. Unable to live in a physical relationship he was often confronted with breakups and a lack of understanding for his difficult situation. Additionally he was and still is suffering from a form of focal epilepsy. Those factors lead to him living on the streets, having mental problems as he was hearing voices in his head.
I met him last week on a Saturday night in Clifton down, where he was sitting next to an ATM begging for change. Having talked to him for at least 15 minutes where he told me his story he allowed me to take some portraits.I managed to capture the anxious and worried look on his face which gives the picture its gloomy mood.
