Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in my old apartment in Denver, on my camping pad that I’d been sleeping on at the time. I’d spent all my money on a new sigma art lens rather than comfortable sleeping arrangements. I was passing the time before work trying out my new lens.Time
It was around 5pm, when I still got some nice natural light from my south facing window.Lighting
Since I didn’t have any extra lighting, I found this old cord of decorative patio lights that I had packed away in a packed away in a decorations box, and tried to see how I could make them interesting. Other than that, I only had the natural light from my bedroom window.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark II. 24mm sigma art lens. A bunch of board game boxes stacked up on the ground - this is before I had a tripod.Inspiration
I was purely inspired by the boredom of not being able to sleep before going into work.Editing
I did! Just a little bit of color adjusting in photoshop. In my camera bag
I pretty much run around with my old canon 5d Mark ii, Sony a7iii (more for video), canon 70-200, and my sigma 24mm. Depending on whether I’m shopping landscapes or portraits, I’ll also bring along my tripod (I honestly don’t know the brand). And if I’m shooting video, I bring my magic air 2.Feedback
Don’t be afraid to use your natural light!
