This is beautiful, I have a very similarly composed photo I took at Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown, New Zealand...

I love Autumn colours and living in Brisbane, sub-tropics, we don't have autumn colours. So I took a trip over to New Zealand by myself just to photograph the Autumn colours. I knew the Otago region of New Zealand has some spectacular colour and timed my trip accordingly. And as you can see, I was there during maximum colour. This is on the west side of Lake Wanaka.Time
It was a glorious day and I was out shooting all day driving down to the end of the lake and back. I spent lots of time in this spot earlier in the day and knew I'd have to stop again as the sun dropped lower and as I headed back to Wanaka to photograph the famous "The Wanaka Tree" at sunset. So late afternoon gave fantastic light to make the poplar/aspen/cottonwood golden leaves glow and a strong reflection.Lighting
Lovely intense late afternoon lightEquipment
This was shot with a Sony A7R, 28-70 tele Sony lens and tripod with a circular polarizer. The polarizer was used to maximize the reflection and darken the blue sky. F9, 1/100, ISO 320, ~30mm. This was my first trip with the camera and I was very happy with the mirror less system and lighter weight.Inspiration
Colour, what else!!Editing
I processed in Photoshop and I did saturate the yellows. I love strong colours. A small crop to emphasis the long length of the lake and the symmetry of the clouds. In my camera bag
Since taking this trip I moved up to the Sony A7R2 when it came out a few months later, as it has a faster focus for travel photography. I also got a larger telephoto range in one lens - 24 to 240. I love this new combination which has been great for travel photography. So this photo was taken with a camera that was my stepping stone from the heavy-large Canon EOS 5D Mark lll to my ideal travel set up which I've stuck with for several years and don't see myself changing from for awhile. The Canon is a great camera but too big for my hands, so it's been sold used for new lenses. I also have a couple tripods, one very sturdy and one lighter for travel.Feedback
I suggest, when you have the freedom to pick when you travel, do your research into the area you are traveling to and look for when the colours are at their max. Of course all places have something special whatever time you travel, but I love colour and max leaf colour really does it for me. Enjoy your travels.
